A dacoit was killed and another arrested in an injured condition during an alleged police encounter in Karachi’s New Karachi Industrial Area, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), an exchange of fire took place within the limits of the New Karachi Industrial Area police station during an operation against suspected criminals.
Karachi Police said one suspect died at the scene while another was taken into custody after sustaining serious injuries during the shootout.
Officials added that two other suspects managed to escape while firing at police officers.
The SSP said police recovered two 30-bore pistols with loaded magazines and a motorcycle from the possession of the suspects involved in the encounter.
Authorities stated that the process of identifying the dead and injured suspects was under way, while both individuals were being shifted to hospital.
Police officials said further details were being collected and the criminal records of the suspects were also being checked as part of the ongoing investigation.
