The residents of Goharabad, a katchi abadi located in Gulberg Town of Karachi, have raised serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of their main road and internal streets.

The issue was formally highlighted through a written letter addressed to the Project Director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP) by the area’s Community-Based Organization (CBO) members.

In the letter, the CBO representatives stated that after the recent laying of water and sewerage lines under the project, the roads have become badly damaged and uneven, making daily movement difficult and unsafe for the residents.

They further noted that the poor condition of streets is causing frequent accidents, especially affecting children and elderly residents. To address this, the CBO members have requested the KWSSIP management to arrange paver work for repairing and leveling the damaged streets.

The letter clarified that the paver work is independent of the completed installation of water pipelines and the construction of the Goharabad water tank, emphasizing that “only surface restoration is required to ensure public safety and convenience.”

The community members urged the Project Director to take prompt action on their request and expressed hope that their concerns would be addressed in the spirit of public welfare.
