The Centre and Sindh have sealed the deal of handing over three major hospitals of Karachi to the provincial government under the 18th Amendment, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
According to Health Secretary Zulfiqar Shah, the federal and provincial governments signed an agreement to hand over the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) and National Institute of Child Health (NICH) to Sindh.
The federal government has the deal draft that would be taken up in a cabinet meeting, he said, adding that as soon as the cabinet approves it, Sindh will get control of hospitals.
The step has been taken under the 18th constitutional amendment, the milestone achieved by the Pakistan People’s Party in its rule in the Centre from 2008 to 2013.
The Imran Khan regime took over these facilities through an executive order. However, the provincial government kept running the hospitals’ affairs.
