The Punjab government has decided to upgrade Services Hospital Lahore with a staggering amount of Rs 4 billion in order to enhance healthcare services for the patients , reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday personally visited the hospital to oversee the project's commencement and ensure its timely execution.
The upgrade plan includes the establishment of a state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the ground floor of Services Hospital.
To optimize space and administrative efficiency, the hospital's administrative offices, including the office of the Medical Superintendent (MS), will be relocated to the basement.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued a directive for the swift implementation of the Master Plan for hospital upgradation, urging the immediate vacation of ground and other floors to initiate the renovation work from October 16. He emphasized the need for round-the-clock work, assigning a three-shift schedule for the project.
Taking a personal interest in the hospital's transformation, Chief Minister Naqvi pledged to closely monitor the progress of the upgrade.
He instructed Secretary Health and Secretary Communication and Works to ensure the timely execution of the plan.
During his visit, Chief Minister Naqvi also inspected the facilities at Sims Laboratory, expressing his displeasure at the lack of resources and quality of service.
Sims Lab, which generated a meagre revenue of Rs 56,000 in a day, raised concerns about patient services.
In response, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi ordered immediate improvements in facilities and test quality at Sims Lab, setting a target of generating at least Rs 10 lakh in daily revenue.
He also ordered an inquiry into tests conducted outside the lab following a patient's complaint.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Naqvi addressed the issue of disorderly parking at Services Hospital, demanding improved parking arrangements to ensure convenience for visitors.
Later, Chief Minister Naqvi inspected the emergency block and ordered the installation of a new lift for enhanced patient mobility. He emphasized the importance of addressing structural issues, including roof seams, during the hospital's upgrade.
Provincial Minister Specialized Healthcare Dr. Javed Akram, Secretary Health, Secretary Communication and Works, Special Secretary Health, Principal Services Institute of Medical Sciences, MS Services Hospital, and other related officials were present during the inspection.
