Angelina Jolie has revealed that she and her children have never returned to Château Miraval, the French winery she once co-owned with ex-husband Brad Pitt, due to the “painful events” surrounding their separation.
In new court documents filed on October 6 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the Maleficent star, 50, stated that the property holds deep emotional weight for her family and remains a reminder of the trauma that accompanied her split from Pitt, 61.
“To this day, the children and I have never again set foot on the property, given its connection to the painful events leading to the divorce,” Jolie wrote in the filing.
The actress said she left Pitt in full control of their family homes in Los Angeles and at Miraval “without compensation,” hoping it would make him “calmer” during a turbulent and emotional period.
She explained that after separating, she began searching for a new home for herself and their six children, while still wanting Pitt to remain part of their lives.
Jolie described Château Miraval as “one of the first major investments” the couple made together and said it was once the “focal point” of their family life.
“We were married there, I spent part of my pregnancy there, and I brought our twins home from the hospital there,” she wrote. “To have such a sudden break from my home and memories has been hard, and it was especially difficult for the children.”
Angelina and Brad Pitt finalised their divorce in December 2024, but their legal battle over Château Miraval continues.
Pitt sued Jolie in 2022, claiming she sold her stake in the winery to the Stoli Group without his consent, violating an earlier agreement.
Jolie countersued, alleging that Pitt attempted to force her into signing a non-disclosure agreement to silence her about alleged abuse.
A source close to Pitt described the case as a “commercial business dispute” separate from their divorce, while Jolie’s side maintains it represents the lingering emotional and financial fallout from their marriage.
