A female student was crushed to death by a bus at Karachi University on Friday, triggering a protest by the students, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to University sources, the deceased student was taken to a nearby hospital immediately after the accident but she could not survive.
The student identified as Aniqa was a second-year student of the Department of Social Welfare.
The accident occurred while she was crossing the road in front of Mathematics Department in the morning hours.
After the accident, students staged a protest demonstration at Karachi University over the accident.
Protesting students shouted slogans against the university administration and demanded a transparent investigation into the accident from the administration.
Protesting students said that traffic control and safety measures at the University of Karachi are non-existent, speed breakers and traffic sign boards should be installed immediately in the university, and financial assistance should be provided to the family of the deceased student.
However, Vice Chancellor of Karachi University Khalid Mahmood Iraqi took notice of the accident.
He ordered the transport department to investigate the accident.
The driver responsible for the accident was suspended.
