German Ambassador to Pakistan Alfreda Anna Lepel has said that Pakistan and Germany share a long-standing history of cooperation and friendship.
She appreciated the role of the Pakistani community in Germany’s development. She stated that German unification ended 41 years of separation, bringing the German people together as one united nation. Ambassador Lepel was addressing a reception held to commemorate the 35th German Unity Day.
The ceremony began with the national anthems of Germany and Pakistan. While addressing the reception, the ambassador said that today we are celebrating the 35th anniversary of Germany’s reunification — a miracle made possible through the peaceful struggle of the German people.She noted that Pakistan and Germany cooperate in numerous fields. The ambassador described Allama Iqbal as a bridge between the East and the West and recalled his stay in Germany, referencing his famous poem “Aik Shaam” (An Evening) written during that period. The German Unity Day reception was attended by a large number of diplomats, politicians, social figures, and embassy officials. Various stalls were also showcased by German governmental and non-governmental organizations.
