Asghar Valika, the former President of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA), passed away at the age of 78 in Karachi after a prolonged illness, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.
Valika, a prominent figure in Pakistan’s cue sports history, had been unwell for several years.
During his distinguished career, he played a pivotal role in promoting snooker both nationally and internationally.
He served as senior vice president of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) and also held the position of president of the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports.
His leadership was instrumental in raising the profile of Pakistani snooker on the global stage.
Asghar Valika was widely credited with organizing five editions of the Asian Snooker Championship in Pakistan.
Under his presidency, Pakistan achieved a historic milestone in 1994 by winning its first-ever world snooker title.
Valika’s death marked the end of an era for Pakistan’s billiards and snooker community.
