Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi have backed Jamaat-e-Islami’s campaign against the petroleum levy and called for relief for the public.
JI Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman contacted Fazlur Rehman and the KP chief minister as part of efforts to build opposition support on the issue.
Hafiz Naeem urged opposition parties to raise their voice against the government’s petroleum levy and take a strong stand on inflation and other public issues.
Fazlur Rehman said Jamaat-e-Islami was raising its voice over the real problems facing the people and described the effort as commendable.
He also announced support for JI’s movement against the petroleum levy.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the federal government should provide relief to people on the petroleum levy.
Afridi also praised Jamaat-e-Islami’s democratic struggle over public issues.
