Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan is committed to achieving the shared goal of completely eradicating polio.

He was talking to a delegation of the Gates Foundation, which called on him in Islamabad on Thursday. The Prime Minister highlighted that the national polio eradication programme enjoys the highest level of patronage.

He appreciated the Gates Foundation's continued support and partnership in addressing Pakistan's development challenges. He said the Gates Foundation has played a valuable role in polio eradication, health, nutrition, financial inclusion and the welfare of vulnerable segments of society.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said digital payments, food security, maternal and newborn health, poverty alleviation and climate change are among the key reform priorities under the government's governance reform agenda.

The Prime Minister said a cashless economy is a key component of the government's transformation agenda, aimed at making people's lives easier, enhancing transparency and ensuring timely and efficient delivery of government funds to deserving beneficiaries.

The Prime Minister emphasized that deserving women should receive financial assistance directly, securely and with dignity. The delegation included Gates Foundation representatives Kalpana Kochhar and Anita Zaidi.
