Following Pakistan’s impressive six-wicket victory over Scotland in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, opening batter Muneeba Ali addressed the media and shared key insights into the team’s strategy, reported 24 NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking about her 71-run innings, Muneeba highlighted its significance in anchoring the run chase.
“It was a very important innings for the team. At that stage, what we needed the most was a solid partnership,” she remarked.
Muneeba praised Aliya Riaz, with whom she shared a crucial stand, calling it “a good partnership that stabilized our innings and allowed us to build momentum.”
Commenting on Scotland’s higher-than-expected total, Muneeba acknowledged that it can sometimes be challenging when bowlers go for more runs. "But we stayed focused on our plan, which was to keep wickets in hand and chase steadily,” she stated.
The left-handed opener also extended her support to fellow teammate Gul Feroza, who failed to make an impact in the match. “Gul is a promising player, and we are hopeful she will perform well in the upcoming matches,” she said with confidence.
Looking ahead to Pakistan’s next fixture, Muneeba emphasized that every match in the tournament holds great importance. “Every match is important. We will try our best to win against the West Indies as well,” she affirmed.
