Arrest driver Izhaar’s wife: Imran Khan condemns raid while police defend it

Islamabad police on Thursday recovered the cell phone of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill during a raid on the house of his driver, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the police, the family of the Shahbaz Gill’s driver resisted the raid, whereas, the driver managed his escape good.

The police arrested the wife of Shahbaz Gill’s driver and also registered a case against the incident in Aabpara police station.

“The accused not only ripped the clothes of the police raiding party but also snatched cell phones from them,” police maintained in the first information report [FIR].

“Dr Shahbaz Gill had revealed giving the cell phone to his driver. The police, on Shehbaz Gill’s identification, carried out the raid to recover the mobile phone,” they added.

“The absconding driver Izhaar and his other accomplices will be arrested soon,” they vowed.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad police also stated that the raid on the house of Shahbaz Gill’s driver to arrest him was according to the law.

The police said that the driver’s family put up resistance. “However, the police are collecting all evidence related to this case,” they added.

“Wherever legal action is required, the police will do their job. The scope of the case can be extended to other provinces besides Islamabad. Legal action will be taken against those who are found involved in concealing or erasing evidence. People are requested not to pay attention to fake news,” said the Islamabad police.

“Action will also be taken against those who are spreading false news among people and inciting them. The Islamabad capital police will ensure the enforcement of the law,” added they.

Meanwhile, PTI chairman Imran Khan also took to Twitter and wrote that he strongly condemned the fascist illegal abductions of Aamad Yusuf and Shahbaz Gill’s assistant Izhaar’s wife, who is now incarcerated in women police station.

He also posed a question to the legal community, stating: “I want to ask our legal community are there no fundamental rights anymore?

He said that the imported government of cabal of crooks, brought through foreign backed regime change, was using fear and terror in media and people to gain acceptance after being routed in Punjab elections. “But all they are succeeding in doing is further destabilising the country. Only solution is fair and free elections,” he added.

Meanwhile, the police sources said that a forensic examination of the Shahbaz Gill’s cell phone was being carried out.

“The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been contacted to match to the voice of Shahbaz Gill. The call detail record (CDR) of Banigala and that of the private news channel is also being obtained,” said the sources.

“Shahbaz Gill is being interrogated that at whose behest he made the statement in the media. Search for the text which Shahbaz Gill read on the media is also underway,” added they.
