Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists staged a protest outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) building in Islamabad on Tuesday in which a large number of lawyers also participated. Later, the party called off the protest, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to details, the spokesman of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, Shafi Jan, also reached the venue, and Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is likely to join the protest.
Heavy contingents of police were deployed in different locations due to the protest of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf.
Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had warned of a protest outside the Supreme Court if he is not allowed to meet PTI founder Imran Khan.
Speaking in Islamabad, Afridi demanded access to Khan and said he was ready to give an assurance that he would not hold a press conference after the meeting.
He also expressed concern over Khan’s health and called for proper medical treatment. Afridi further warned that PTI supporters would mobilise across the country, with September 27 announced as a key date for the planned political movement.
Salman Raja meets SC Registratr
After meeting the Registrar Supreme Court, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja while talking to the media said that the applications regarding Dr. Uzma Khan and her meeting with the founder PTI are pending.
According to Salman Akram Raja, the Registrar Supreme Court has assured that the above cases will be scheduled for hearing next week, while the cause list will also be issued after two days.
Later, Salman Akram Raja announced calling off the protest, saying for real democracy they will come out on the streets again on Thursday.
No politics on PTI chairman’s health: KP CM
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi while talking to the media said that we do not do politics on health, the founder PTI has never talked about his health.
Sohail Afridi said that we had sympathized with Nawaz Sharif even when his platelets were low, what is happening to us, can also happen to him tomorrow.
