Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar on Tuesday condemned an alleged firing incident involving a PTI worker and a security official on Rawalpindi’s Mall Road, accusing the opposition party of pursuing a politics of violence.
Speaking about the incident, Tarar said there was no justification for a PTI worker to open fire on a security official and described armed violence against security personnel in broad daylight as condemnable.
He alleged that PTI had repeatedly resorted to violence during its protests and claimed that its demonstrators had previously come armed with weapons.
Tarar also referred to PTI’s plans for a long march, saying the party did not believe in peaceful protest and had a history of violent demonstrations.
The information minister claimed that police and Rangers personnel had lost their lives during previous PTI protests and alleged that the party sought to create unrest and disturb law and order in the country.
He said a PTI flag and other documents had also been recovered from the worker allegedly involved in Tuesday’s incident.
Tarar accused PTI of announcing protests on important national occasions and claimed that the party was unable to accept Pakistan’s economic and developmental progress.
He alleged that attempts to create disorder were aimed at harming the country and said the latest incident had further exposed what he described as the party’s intentions.
The minister said Pakistan’s leadership was working for the country’s development and expressed confidence that the country would continue to make progress.
“Pakistan and the people of Pakistan will win on every front, and the enemies will face failure,” Tarar said.
