Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamiana said on Tuesday that forensic and chemical examination reports were awaited in connection with the death of two women who were brought to Township Investigation Police on August 4.
Addressing a press conference at Qila Gujar Singh Police Lines, Kamiana said the incident received considerable media coverage in Lahore. He said the two women were brought to the police station after an 15 emergency call involving a dispute. He said a case was subsequently registered against the women on the complaint of a citizen, Zeeshan Latif.
The CCPO said the condition of the two women deteriorated while they were at the police station. Rescue personnel shifted them to Jinnah Hospital and the hospital administration declared both women dead.
Kamiana said 176 proceedings had been completed under the supervision of a Judicial Magistrate in connection with the incident. He stated that the post-mortem examination did not establish evidence of violence against the women.
The CCPO said that forensic and chemical examination reports of the women were still awaited. They would help investigators determine more facts of the case. He said that an investigation into the incident was continuing.
