DPO Abbottabad Haroon Rasheed has formally asked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to hold an inquiry into suspected money-laundering links in the kidnapping and murder of Dr Warda, 24NewsHD TV reported on Thursday.

In the letter, the DPO stated that the suspects allegedly paid Rs3 million for the abduction and killing of the young doctor, raising suspicions of possible money-laundering.

He requested the FIA officials to provide complete financial details of the nominated suspects, Abdul Waheed, Nadeem, and Rida Jadoon, including any unusual or suspicious transactions.

The letter further asked whether any previous money-laundering inquiries are pending against the accused.

The DPO also sought their travel histories, any restrictions placed on them, and their watch-list status.

Calling the case “extremely sensitive,” the DPO stressed that timely information is crucial for the next phase of legal proceedings.

Dr Warda was kidnapped from outside the DHQs Hospital, Abbottabad, on 4 December.

Four days later, her body was recovered from the Lora Banota area.

DPO Haroon Rasheed later revealed that she had been murdered within an hour of her abduction.

According to police, the suspects first took her to an under-construction house in Jinnahabad, where she was strangled.

Her body was later buried near Thandiani.
