Punjab police, Motorway police sign MoU for joint safety operations

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Punjab Police and Motorway Police for joint checking, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar and Additional IG National Highways and Motorway Saad Akhtar Bharwana signed the agreement.

Agreement has been signed to ensure safety and security of passengers.

Punjab Police and Motorway Police will conduct joint safety operations and for the purpose hotline have been activated.

Joint checking of public service vehicles of both forces has been going on since last night.

After agreement, checking of drivers, conductors, helpers and data collection has been started.

Talking on the occasion IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said unverified drivers and staff will not be allowed on motorways.

He said real-time intelligence sharing has been launched to prevent terrorism and smuggling.

Immediate alert on criminal movement while travelling on national highways will be activated, IG Punjab said.

Dr. Usman Anwar said joint traffic management plan of both forces will be activated during fog and holidays.

According to MoU, Punjab Police will jointly patrol to protect motorway fencing.

DIGR R&D Fawaduddin Qureshi, DIG Motorways Central Zone Imran Shahid and AIG Admin and Security Dr. Asad Ijaz Malhi participated in the MoU ceremony.
