The Pakistan Super League (PSL) will hold its first-ever players auction today, marking a historic moment in the league’s evolution, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to the report, a total of 880 players have been registered for the auction, where franchises will place bids to complete their squads ahead of the 11th edition of the PSL.
Under the new system, teams will be allowed to build squads consisting of a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 21 players through the auction process.
According to the league’s regulations, every franchise must include at least five foreign players in its 16-member squad, making overseas participation a mandatory component of team composition.
The introduction of the auction system represents a major structural shift for the Pakistan Super League, which previously relied on draft-based player selection.
League officials believe the new format will enhance competitiveness, transparency and global interest in the tournament.
