The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) bounced back strongly on Wednesday following a bearish trend in the previous two sessions of the current business week, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During intraday trading, the KSE-100 gained 650 points to reach 182,803.94 points, marking a positive change of 0.36 percent.
Out of 564 active companies in the ready market, 250 advanced, 196 declined, while 118 remained unchanged.
A day earlier, the benchmark index witnessed a bearish trend, losing 186.83 points, a negative change of 0.10 percent, to close at 182,153.55 points.
During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 1,062.309 million shares with a traded value of Rs 37.884 billion, against 931.363 million shares valuing Rs 58.876 billion in the previous session. Market capitalization declined to Rs 20.634 trillion from Rs 20.710 trillion a day earlier.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Capital Market has officially transitioned to the T+1 settlement cycle, a landmark reform that strengthens efficiency, reduces risk and aligns the country with international best practices.
Effective from February 9, 2026, all eligible trades at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) are now settled on a Trade plus one (T+1) basis, replacing the previous T+2 cycle.
Pakistan’s remittances recorded strong growth in the first seven months of fiscal year 2026 (7MFY26), rising 11 percent year-on-year to $23.2 billion, according to a report by Arif Habib Limited.
The report shows that overseas Pakistanis sent $3.46 billion in January 2026 alone, marking a 15 percent increase compared to $3.0 billion in the same month last year. On a month-on-month basis, remittances fell slightly by 4 percent from December’s $3.59 billion, reflecting normal seasonal variation.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest contributor in January, sending $740 million, followed by the UAE with $694 million. Remittances from the United Kingdom surged to $572 million, while Europe contributed $480 million. Inflows from the United States stood at $295 million during the month.
