The Bangladesh cricket team’s reported refusal to play World Cup T20 matches in India has triggered high-level talks at the ICC, with Chairman Jay Shah set to meet Indian and Bangladeshi board officials to resolve the growing impasse, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
During the meeting, Shah will brief BCCI officials on the concerns raised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
He is also expected to hold talks with BCB President Aminul Islam to address Bangladesh’s reservations.
Security concerns are understood to be a key factor behind Bangladesh’s stance, along with other issues, including the exclusion of pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League, Indian media reported.
Bangladesh has formally requested that its World Cup matches, scheduled to be played in India, be shifted to Sri Lanka, citing safety and related concerns.
The matter remains under discussion at the ICC level as stakeholders work to find an acceptable resolution.
