A women's empowerment race titled “Born to Run” was organised at Karachi’s Do Darya coastline, drawing an enthusiastic turnout as participants gathered early in the morning to take part in the event.
Mumtaz Naimat won the race by covering the stipulated distance in 21 minutes and 36 seconds. Natasha Hassan came in second, and Mahnoor Fatemi came in third position.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, organisers said the race aimed to promote women’s empowerment by encouraging them to embrace physical fitness and prioritise healthier living in an environment that fosters confidence and community engagement.
They noted that the initiative was designed not only to highlight women’s athletic potential but also to create a public space where women could participate freely and visibly in sports.
Competitors who secured top positions were awarded prizes at the closing ceremony, where organisers reiterated their commitment to expanding similar events across the city.
