A raging fire broke out at multiple locations on the Margalla Hills Wednesday, sparked by the intensifying heatwave sweeping across the region, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The blaze has spread to at least five different spots, including the Pir Sohawah area, posing a serious threat to the surrounding forest and wildlife.

According to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) spokesperson, over 50 firefighters are currently engaged in a major operation to bring the fires under control.

The fire near Saidpur village has already been extinguished, and efforts are underway to douse the flames in other affected areas.

Strong winds are hampering firefighting efforts, with flames continuing to spread rapidly over a large area. The district administration has deployed the concerned Assistant Commissioner to oversee the operation on-site.

Despite the challenges, authorities remain hopeful. “The fire at all locations will be brought under control soon,” said the spokesperson, adding that teams are working round the clock to contain the damage.

Fires during heat waves are a recurring issue on the Margalla Hills, often sparked by dry conditions and human negligence. An investigation into the cause of this latest blaze is expected to follow once the situation stabilises.
