An anti-terrorism court on Thursday granted a seven-day physical remand of a woman accused of throwing acid on her husband in Gujar Khan and directed police to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
Police produced the suspect before the court following her arrest in connection with the acid attack case.
During the hearing, the accused denied intentionally attacking her husband and presented her version of the incident before the court.
According to her statement, the incident occurred inside the couple's home during a domestic dispute.
"The husband tried to throw acid on me. When I resisted, the bottle fell and broke, and the acid spilled on him. I was also affected," she told the court.
The woman said she had married Kamran Tanveer eight months ago and claimed disputes had arisen between them over jewelry and gifts exchanged at the time of marriage.
After hearing the preliminary arguments, Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Amjad Ali Shah granted a seven-day remand and ordered investigators to record the accused's statement in full.
The judge also directed police to investigate the role of the husband and examine all aspects of the case before reaching any conclusions.
"The accused's complete statement should be recorded and the husband's role should also be investigated," the judge instructed.
The court further directed police to carry out a thorough investigation and submit a report on the findings.
