Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that he is closely monitoring developments in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and that his party will play a positive and decisive role in the region’s political affairs.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Shujaat said the people of Kashmir are patriotic and committed to their homeland, adding that a handful of disruptive elements could not mislead the wider population.
Shujaat stressed that the actions of a few individuals should not be used to label an entire nation. The veteran politician maintained that dialogue, mutual understanding and consultation remain the most effective means of resolving political and social issues.
Meanwhile, PML spokesperson Tariq Hassan announced that the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has formally confirmed the registration of the Pakistan Muslim League (Azad Jammu and Kashmir), clearing the way for the party to participate in future electoral contests.
He said the party is currently holding consultations regarding its strategy for the upcoming elections and intends to contest the polls under the leadership of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
According to the spokesperson, citizens, political figures, religious leaders and party workers have congratulated the party leadership on the successful completion of the registration process.
He added that Kashmiri refugees have also assured their full support to Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Punjab Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain.
Tariq Hassan further said that party leader Hafiz Aqeel Jalil had been commended by the leadership for successfully overseeing and completing the registration process.
