Woman, rickshaw driver held with 14kg hashish in Karachi anti-narcotics operation

Police arrested a woman allegedly linked to an inter-provincial drug trafficking network along with a rickshaw driver and recovered 14 kilograms of hashish during an operation at a checkpoint in Karachi's Keamari district.

According to police, the arrests were made by Mochko Police at the Mochko check post after receiving a tip-off about the transportation of narcotics into the city.

Officials said the suspects had arrived in Karachi from Hub, Balochistan, in a rickshaw when they were intercepted and searched by police.

During the operation, police recovered 14kg of hashish worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from the vehicle.

Investigators believe the narcotics were intended for distribution in different areas of Karachi.

The woman was identified as Sakina, wife of Abdul Samad, while the rickshaw driver was identified as Ameer Ali, son of Abdul Rahim.

According to SSP Keamari, a case has been registered against both suspects under relevant narcotics laws and further investigations are underway to determine links to the wider drug supply network.

Police said efforts were continuing to identify other individuals involved in the alleged trafficking operation and trace the intended recipients of the seized drugs.
