Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered foolproof security arrangements on the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali Karamullah Wajho, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Chief Minister on Wednesday directed monitoring of security measures for all processions and gatherings.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif further directed police officers to continue monitoring the processions and gatherings until they are completed.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif also ordered special measures for the safety of those in seclusion in mosques.
Following Punjab CM orders, Punjab IG Abdul Karim ordered to increase security across the province including Lahore on the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) in view of the situation on the western border.
IG Punjab directed to keep a close watch on Fitna-ul-Kharij and Fitna-ul-Hindustan and deployed at inter-provincial border posts remain on high alert.
IG Punjab said more than 30,000 police officers and personnel are deployed across the province including Lahore for the security of mourning processions and gatherings.
More than 8,000 officers and personnel are performing security duty for the security of mourning processions and gatherings in the provincial capital Lahore, IG Punjab said.
According to spokesperson, 20,000 are deployed for the security of 217 mourning processions, more than 10,000 officers and personnel are deployed for 994 gatherings.
About 2029 metal detectors, 297 walk-through gates are being used to check the participants of gatherings and mourning processions.
With the help of Safe Cities Authority and cameras of district administration, continuous monitoring of mourning processions and gatherings is being carried out.
About 32 category A mourning processions will be taken out across Punjab including Lahore while 67 gatherings will be held.
All activities are being monitored from the CPO and district control and monitoring rooms.
Punjab ID ordered to ensure complete checking of participants of mourning processions and gatherings.
Lady police personnel have been deployed for security checking of women mourners.
Commandos in plain clothes have been deployed in mourning processions while snipers have been deployed on the roofs of routes.
Special arrangements have been made to maintain traffic flow through alternative routes across the province.
All field formations including Dolphin Squad, Pera, Special Branch, CTD should adopt a common strategy in the security arrangements for the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali, IG Punjab directed.
Punjab IG directed RPOs, CPOs, DPOs should check the security arrangements for mourning processions and gatherings themselves.
