Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Wednesday that Youm-e-Ali (may God be pleased with him) processions concluded peacefully across Pakistan.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Naqvi wrote, "Youm-e-Ali Jaloos across Pakistan concluded peacefully before Maghrib today. I sincerely thank all license holders and religious scholars across the country for their cooperation during these challenging circumstances. Outstanding work by the Police and District Administrations nationwide. This was a particularly sensitive year given the prevailing security situation. Salute to our security and intelligence agencies who foiled numerous threats in recent days and ensured the safety of our people."
In Karachi, the main procession culminated at Imambargah Hussainiya Iranian. The procession began from Nishtar Park and passed through its designated routes before reaching Kharadar, where a large number of mourners entered the imambargah to mark the conclusion of the procession.
Strict security arrangements were put in place along the procession routes. A heavy contingent of police and personnel from the Pakistan Rangers remained deployed to maintain law and order.
Authorities sealed several routes by placing containers to ensure security. Law enforcement agencies also carried out search and sweep operations along the procession routes and surrounding streets to prevent any untoward incident.
