The National Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution on the “Maarka-e-Haq” as Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces for what he described as their historic success during “Operation Banyanum Marsus.”
Addressing the National Assembly session, the speaker said the nation was celebrating the first anniversary of the “Maarka-e-Haq” with great enthusiasm and national spirit.
“May 10 is a bright and shining day in the history of the country,” Ayaz Sadiq remarked, adding that Pakistan’s armed forces had successfully stopped the enemy’s “evil intentions” against Pakistani territory.
He said that through “Operation Banyanum Marsus,” Pakistani forces gave a “befitting response” to an enemy that was larger in numbers and military resources.
According to the speaker, the enemy launched attacks on peaceful and defenseless Pakistani civilians under the cover of darkness, but the nation and armed forces stood united “like a leaden wall” under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir.
Ayaz Sadiq claimed that the enemy was forced to retreat from its positions on the ground front, while the Pakistan Air Force established what he called decisive air superiority during the conflict.
He said Pakistani fighter pilots destroyed seven enemy aircraft during the operation and added that “Operation Sindoor” had become a “black mark” on India’s image.
The speaker paid tribute to Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and officers and personnel of the Pakistan Air Force for their performance during the conflict.
He also praised the role of the Pakistan Navy, stating that the naval force kept the enemy confined to its ports through professional capability and operational preparedness.
The National Assembly speaker expressed gratitude to Chief of the Naval Staff Naveed Ashraf and personnel of the Pakistan Navy for their services.
Criticising India’s narrative regarding regional tensions, Ayaz Sadiq claimed that Indian media had been “exposed before the world” and alleged that the Pahalgam incident was a “false flag operation.”
He said such actions endangered both regional and global peace and accused India of pursuing an expansionist agenda in South Asia.
“I draw the attention of the international parliamentary community to the ongoing Indian expansionism in the region,” he said, adding that such policies posed a threat to international peace.
The speaker reiterated that Pakistan was a peace-loving country and said Islamabad had consistently advocated dialogue and stability, including during the ongoing tensions in the Persian Gulf region.
“Pakistan is a messenger of peace and will continue efforts for global peace,” he said.
On the Kashmir issue, Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan would continue to raise its voice for the rights of Kashmiris and maintained that durable peace in the subcontinent was linked to a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute and the right to self-determination for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He also criticised India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, describing it as illegal and condemnable, and said Pakistan reserved the right to respond to “water aggression” at all levels.
The speaker further paid tribute to Pakistani martyrs who, he said, sacrificed their lives while defending the country.
“The hearts of the entire nation are illuminated by the memory of our brave martyrs,” he stated, while praying for the elevation of their ranks.
Ayaz Sadiq said the success achieved during the “Maarka-e-Haq” had enhanced the honour and dignity of both Pakistan and its armed forces and called on the nation to express gratitude to Allah Almighty for what he described as a clear victory.
At the conclusion of the session, the National Assembly unanimously passed a resolution related to the “Maarka-e-Haq.”
