Policeman martyred in Bannu attack

A policeman embraced martyrdom when unidentified assailants who were riding a motorcycle opened fire on him in Bannu, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The incident took place near his house in Mama Khel area of Bannu. The policeman was later identified as Ilyas and was performing his duties as a constable in Saddar Police Station’s Investigation staff.

Later, all the assailants escaped from the scene. Police cordoned off the entire area and started a search operation to apprehend the assailants.

Earlier on November 7, 2025, in a joint operation by the police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Bannu’s Mamandkhel area resulted in the deaths of seven terrorists and the martyrdom of one police officer.

According to the District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, the terrorists ambushed security forces, prompting a swift retaliatory response that neutralized all seven militants. During the gunfight, ten policemen were injured, while four civilians were also wounded in crossfire.

The martyred officer, identified as Abid Khan, was laid to rest with full state honors at Police Lines Bannu, in a ceremony attended by senior police and government officials. The injured policemen, including DSP Malik Ihsan and several constables, along with the wounded civilians, were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
