The Punjab government has officially announced the commencement of the sugarcane crushing season for 2025, setting November 15 as the start date for all sugar mills across the province, including those in South Punjab.

According to a notification issued by the Price Control and Commodities Management Department, the decision has been made to ensure a uniform start to the crushing season, facilitating timely sugar production and safeguarding the interests of both farmers and the sugar industry.

The notification specifies that all sugar mills in Punjab — including those located in the southern districts — will begin operations simultaneously on November 15, 2025. The coordinated start is aimed at maintaining price stability, improving supply chain management, and ensuring that sugarcane growers receive timely payments for their produce.

Officials said the government has been closely monitoring the ongoing sugarcane harvesting process in several areas of South Punjab, where cutting and supply preparations are already underway. The unified schedule, they added, will help balance market demand, avoid regional disparities, and prevent delays that could affect farmers’ incomes.

The Punjab government has also directed sugar mills to comply with procurement regulations and to begin crushing immediately on the notified date to protect growers from unnecessary waiting times or financial losses.

With the crushing season now officially scheduled, the province is set to enter a critical phase for both the agricultural and industrial sectors, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and ensuring steady sugar production ahead of the next marketing cycle.
