CDWP approves 3 projects worth Rs8b, sends Rss228b projects to ECNEC for approval

Three projects worth Rs8 billion were approved at a meeting of the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) chaired by Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal in Islamabad on Thursday.

CDWP sent four projects worth Rs228 billion to ECNEC for final approval. The plan for construction of Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital was also sent to ECNEC. This project will cost Rs74.92 billion. Provincial funds will be provided for the project.

Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital will be constructed in Lahore in two phases. It will have 280 beds in the first phase. Another 300 beds will be added to the hospital in the second phase.

Harpo Hydropower Project worth Rs34.34 billion was approved at Thursday’s meeting. The plan for construction of an 8-lane overhead bridge on Imamia Bridge in Shahdara was also approved. The project will cost Rs4.67 billion.

The plan for distribution of funds to affected people of Karachi-Lahore Motorway and Faisalabad Motorway was also approved. These affected will receive Rs68.73 billion from the government.

At Thursday’s meeting, the CDWP directed the authorities to complete the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway project within three years. The CDWP approved Rs50 billion for water resources development project in Balochistan. It also approved a working paper for issuance of Panda Bond.
