Pakistani veteran actress Saba Faisal has opened up about the ongoing controversy surrounding actress and former politician Faryal Gohar’s allegations against her ex-husband, Jamal Shah, questioning whether a person can be publicly disgraced over decades old matters at this stage of life.
During a latest interview, Saba spoke candidly about the controversy and revealed that she was deeply hurt by the allegations and the way the matter unfolded publicly.
Saba said she had always held Faryal Gohar in high regard and found it difficult to see someone she considered highly educated and accomplished being involved in such a situation.
“You spend a lifetime earning your respect and building a character among people. I don’t think Jamal Shah’s personality has been damaged,” Saba remarked.
However, she acknowledged that the controversy could have had a significant impact on his family and personal life.
“Yes, his wife and children must have faced disturbance in their home. And that man doesn’t even speak much. He is such a lovely person,” she said, expressing sympathy for Jamal.
Saba further argued that allegations and claims concerning incidents from many years ago should not be used to publicly humiliate someone in their later years.
“When things about his character, which had never come before him throughout his life, are brought up because of social media you cannot take matters from so many years ago and disgrace someone at this age,” she stated.
The veteran actress also expressed her disappointment over the situation involving Faryal, particularly because of the image she had formed of her over the years.
“I was very hurt that such a highly educated woman could be treated like a culprit and kept this way,” Saba said, referring to the manner in which Faryal allegedly described her treatment during the relationship.
Saba’s comments come after Faryal Gohar publicly levelled allegations of domestic violence against her former husband, Jamal Shah. Her claims have since triggered widespread discussion on social media, with the controversy drawing considerable public attention.
