Two female employees working for the Federal Immunisation Programme (FIP) have approached the Federal Ombudsman, alleging harassment, character assassination and discriminatory treatment at their workplace, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
According to the details, data assistants Uzma Mohib and Faiza Nabeel, who work for the Federal Directorate of Immunisation (FDI), named office attendant Aqeel Abbas and administrative officer Jafar Shah in their complaint.
According to the application, Aqeel Abbas allegedly called the husband of one of the women and used inappropriate language during the conversation. The applicants also alleged that insulting remarks about the character of both female employees were made during the call.
The women further alleged that Aqeel Abbas and Jafar Shah repeatedly made derogatory comments about their physical appearance. They also accused Jafar Shah of withholding a house-hiring file.
The application alleged that the women were given an inappropriate condition that they should come to the office and have tea with the official in return for processing the file.
The female applicants said that after they rejected the alleged offer, the harassment and discriminatory treatment increased.
They further alleged that, as a form of retaliation for refusing the offer, they were assigned difficult duties in freezer rooms maintained at temperatures ranging from minus 15 to minus 25 degrees Celsius.
The women also alleged that the accused was made unavailable from the office to prevent him from appearing before an inquiry officer.
They claimed that, on another occasion, a security supervisor stopped their vehicle at the main gate and treated them in a humiliating manner.
The two employees have appealed to the Federal Ombudsman for a transparent inquiry into their allegations and requested protection during the proceedings.
