The Balochistan government has clarified its position on the issue of missing persons stating that the number of cases pending with the missing persons commission is not in thousands, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

A Balochistan government spokesman said the missing persons commission is continuing its work with meeting is held on a fixed date every month. A number of people have come to the fore following the action taken by the missing persons commission, he added.

The government spokesman said there were also evidence that the commission came across according to which some people were not missing. Solving the problem of the disappeared people with political responsibility is one of the priorities of the current provincial government, the spokesman maintained.

If a family believes that its member is missing, they can contact the commission, he said and added, in some recent incidents of terrorism, persons whose names were included in the list of missing persons were found to be involved and their families recognized them.

These incidents included the recent attacks in Machh and Gwadar, the government spokesman reminded.

He said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had already proposed to solve the problem of missing persons through the parliamentary committee of Balochistan Assembly.

The provincial government is preparing an action plan for evolving consensus in the Balochistan Assembly on the proposal of Bilawal Bhutto, the spokesman said and added, the provincial government is moving forward under the policy of reconciliation in Balochistan in accordance with the vision of President Asif Ali Zardari.
