National Assembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has, for the second time, invited the opposition to hold talks with the government, declaring that as the “custodian of the house”, he is ready to extend all possible cooperation.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Ayaz Sadiq, while talking to the media, said that negotiations are the only way to resolve political differences and pledged to play the role of a bridge between the government and the opposition.
He emphasised that the Constitution, the law, parliamentary traditions, and the rules are the same for everyone and that adherence to principles is the guarantee for strengthening democracy.
The speaker further remarked that no forum like a grand jirga can be greater than the National Assembly and the Senate and urged all political forces to step forward to strengthen Parliament.
NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq noted that disagreement is the beauty of democracy, but it must be transformed into constructive dialogue in the national interest.
Answering a query, Ayaz Sadiq also pointed out that following the arrest of the Indian opposition leader, no production orders had been issued.
