Punjab government has decided to improve the administrative system of government colleges, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
In this regard, the Higher Education Department has proposed to give spending powers of up to Rs10 million to College Management Councils.
The Higher Education Department has sent a summary to the cabinet in this regard.
In the summery, it was pointed out that the existing College Management Councils have been declared ineffective.
The department also proposed local-level decisions in the financial and administrative matters of colleges.
In the restructuring of College Management Councils, representation will also be increased and there will be better monitoring and accountability of the use of funds in colleges.
According to Higher Education Department authorities said reforms will help resolve the problems of colleges soon.
The new councils will provide better facilities to students and teachers.
