Pakistan weather update: Cold, dry conditions to persist, plains to remain under fog

Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail in most parts of the country tonight, with extremely cold conditions in the hilly areas, according to the weather forecast. Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining areas are likely to remain partly cloudy, with light rain or light snowfall at a few places. Moderate to heavy fog is expected to develop in the plains of Punjab, upper Sindh and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

On Tuesday, cold and dry weather will continue in Islamabad and its surrounding areas, while fog or haze is expected at a few places during the morning hours.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, most districts are likely to experience cold and dry weather, whereas the hilly areas will remain extremely cold and dry. Moderate to heavy fog is expected in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and surrounding areas during the morning and night.

Punjab will also see cold and dry conditions across most districts. Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas are expected to remain extremely cold and dry. Moderate to severe fog is likely in several districts, including Sialkot, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Mianwali, Layyah, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Shorkot, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan. Fog is also expected at a few places in the Potohar region during the morning hours.

In Balochistan, cold and dry weather is forecast for most districts, while extremely cold conditions are expected in the northern areas. Fog is likely to persist in Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Dera Murad Jamali, Jafarabad, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Sibi and surrounding areas during the morning.

Sindh is expected to experience cold and dry weather in most districts, with moderate to heavy fog likely in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Larkana, Tando Jam, Mohenjo Daro and nearby areas.

In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, cold and dry weather is likely to prevail.

Meanwhile, the lowest temperatures recorded today were minus 13 degrees Celsius in Skardu, minus 11 in Leh and Astor, minus 9 in Gopis, minus 8 in Gilgit, minus 6 in Kalat and Kalam, minus 5 in Hunza and minus 4 degrees Celsius in Parachinar.
