Pakistan, Indonesia agree to strengthen defense production ties

Indonesian Defence Minister Lt. Gen. (Retd) Jafri Shamsuddin met with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Defence Production Muhammad Raza Hayat Hiraj on Monday to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in defense production.

The meeting, attended by senior officials from both countries’ defense production ministries, resulted in an agreement to establish joint working groups to explore and leverage mutual capabilities in the sector.

During the talks, Raza Hayat Hiraj invited Indonesian officials to actively participate in the upcoming International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2026), highlighting Pakistan’s potential in defense production and its commitment to fostering closer ties with Indonesia, which he described as a “close friend and brotherly Muslim country.”

Lt. Gen. (Retd) Jafri Shamsuddin expressed keen interest in intensifying collaboration through the joint working groups, emphasizing that such cooperation would open doors for future defense projects and mutual benefit. He also praised Pakistan as a country with a rich culture, functioning democracy, and vibrant economy.

Both sides expressed hope that the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Indonesia would evolve into long-term strategic ties based on mutual trust and respect.
