Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel in coordination with local police gunned down two terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Bannu, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
The operation was conducted in the jurisdiction of Mira Khel Police Station, near Jando Khel Road in Bannu.
The dead terrorists were identified as Sohail alias Sanjri and Ismail alias Usman. These terrorists were involved in attacking police checkposts at Sheikh Landak and Fateh Jhel, in which eight policemen were injured.
The dead terrorists also attacked an under-construction Rescue 1122 building and were also involved in an IED attack.
The CTD and police team recovered two Kalashnikovs, 1 pistol, several bullets, two motorcycles, two mobile phones, two CNICs, and one card of a banned TTP.
Two terrorists escaped from the scene, taking advantage of the darkness. Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pukhtonkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed and Additional Inspector-General of Police lauded local police and CTD Special Weapons and Tactics team for conducting a successful operation.
The IGP KP said, “The brave young man who fights against terrorists to protect the soil is an asset of our dear motherland.”
Earlier on January 11, 2026, acting on intelligence information, the CTD targeted a formation of Fitna al-Khwarij at the checkpoint on the Shah Kas Bypass Road in the Jamrud area of Khyber District, in which three terrorists were killed.
According to the CTD, the slain terrorists were active members of Fitna al-Khwarij, who have been involved in attacks on forces, including murder, attempted murder, extortion and other terrorist incidents.
Three Kalashnikovs and ammunition were recovered from the possession of the slain terrorists. The IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and Additional ICTD congratulated CTD team for the successful operation.
IG Police said that the cops who fought with their heads held high to eliminate terrorism and establish peace and order are the embodiment of determination and courage and the pride of the dear country.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has praised CTD for successful operation against Indian-sponsored terrorists in Khyber district. He said CTD's brave sons foiled the nefarious plot by killing 3 Khawarijis.
Naqvi said lauded CTD's professionalism and said he was proud of the courage and professionalism of the brave CTD personnel.
Naqvi asserted that the nation is united in the fight against terrorism. He said peace will be restored in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by eliminating Indian-sponsored terrorists.
