The governments of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan have always prioritised dialogue, reconciliation, and the resolution of public issues therefore under the agreement of October 4, 2025, the 38 demands of the proscribed Awami Action Committee were accepted in the broader public interest, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Spokesperson for the AJK Govt Ch Guftar Hussain and AJK Police Spokesperson DIG Irfan Masood stated this while addressing a press conference in Muzaffarabad on Sunday. They said that the banned Awami Action Committee shifted its focus from demands regarding fundamental rights toward anti-state objectives.
Ch Guftar Hussain said Awami Action Committee was declared an outlawed organization in accordance with the law due to its anti-state activities. The supply of food, medicines, and essential commodities in the Poonch Division was severely disrupted due to the sit-in that had been ongoing for the past 36 days.
Ch Guftar Hussain said general elections for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will be held strictly in accordance with the announced schedule. There is no possibility of any change or delay in the election schedule.
All administrative and security preparations for free, fair, transparent, and peaceful elections are complete. Citizens should exercise their right to vote responsibly, demonstrating confidence in the democratic process.
The public should reject inflammatory propaganda, rumors, and divisive narratives. Maintaining peace, stability, and the rule of law in the state is the collective responsibility of every citizen.
AJK government spokesperson said it is essential to remain vigilant against misleading campaigns that undermine the peaceful image of Azad Kashmir. The government and state institutions will ensure the protection of peace, the rule of law, and the public interest at all costs.
He said that the movement of ordinary citizens was completely halted due to the erection of roadblocks on highways and connecting roads.
Spokesperson for the AJK Govt said a situation of food shortages and a lack of essential commodities arose in several areas. It is the government's constitutional and moral responsibility to reopen the blocked routes for the public. Resistance and gunfire from the proscribed committee were encountered during every attempt to reopen the blocked highways.
AJK Police Spokesperson DIG Irfan Masood said the law enforcement personnel were wounded when a team clearing a route in Shujaabad came under heavy fire from adjacent areas and forests.
He said a bulldozer operator was wounded by gunfire while clearing a blocked route in Arja Jhandala. Security forces also came under fire while transporting the wounded bulldozer operator.
The spokespersons said attacks on trucks carrying food supplies, looting, and the siphoning off of diesel do not reflect a peaceful protest. Reports have been received of women and children being used as human shields against law enforcement agencies. Reports have also emerged of women and children being held at the sit-in against their will.
DIG Irfan Masood said JAAC plan to bring women and children to the forefront, placing the Holy Quran and white flags in their hands, is condemnable as using the Holy Quran in any conflict is contrary to religious sanctity and Islamic teachings.
He said incitement, damaging public property, and attacking law enforcement agencies are unacceptable.
DIG Irfan Masood said the banned Action Committee has appealed to students to participate in the July 14 protest wearing their school and college uniforms. Moreover Action Committee had made plans to position students—clad in their uniforms—at the forefront of the long march towards Muzaffarabad on July 15.
The banned Public Action Committee will bear full responsibility for any untoward incident. It is the government's constitutional obligation to ensure the rule of law and provide relief to innocent citizens.
