A 65-year-old woman has been arrested in India for allegedly attempting to influence the outcome of her civil case by performing what police described as an act of black magic inside a courtroom, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
According to Indian media reports, the woman, identified as Manjula, allegedly sprinkled white mustard seeds on a judge's chair and dais in the belief that the ritual would help secure a favourable verdict in a pending land dispute.
The incident took place at the First Additional Civil and JMFC Court, where court staff noticed white mustard seeds scattered on the judge's chair.
They immediately reviewed CCTV footage, which allegedly showed the woman carrying out the act.
Following the discovery, the court administrator lodged a complaint with the police, leading to Manjula's arrest.
Police officials said the suspect admitted during interrogation that she had performed the ritual, believing it would help her win the case.
She was later produced before a court, which remanded her to 14 days of judicial custody while the investigation continues.
