Amjad Yasin, the driver of Jafar Express, has contacted his family, assuring them that he is alive and will return home soon.
According to Amir Yasin, Amjad’s brother, the family received a phone call from him an hour ago, confirming his safety.
BBC News Quetta reported that Amir Yasin has also shared a recent photo of Amjad Yasin with the media.
The Jafar Express was attacked by terrorists in Bolan, Balochistan, who stormed the train, killed several passengers, and took hostages. The attack, claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), led to a full-scale military operation involving the Pakistan Army, Air Force, Frontier Corps, and SSG commandos. Security forces managed to rescue 190 hostages while eliminating all 33 terrorists responsible for the attack.
Authorities are still verifying the identities of the freed hostages, while an investigation is underway into how the attackers managed to execute the assault.
The security situation remains tense, with operations continuing in the surrounding mountainous regions to track down any remaining threats. Meanwhile, train services from Quetta have been temporarily suspended pending security clearance.
