Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, met with the Danish Ambassador to Pakistan to discuss a wide range of bilateral cooperation opportunities, including a potential $2 billion investment in Pakistan’s maritime sector.
The meeting focused on modernizing Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure, improving port efficiency, and promoting sustainable practices in shipping and logistics.
The discussions highlighted Denmark’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s maritime sector through advanced technology and sustainable investments. Both parties reviewed the implementation of ongoing Danish investments in Pakistan and explored new avenues for collaboration, particularly in renewable energy projects at Pakistani ports and green shipping initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of maritime activities.
The Danish Ambassador expressed keen interest in increasing investment in Pakistan, emphasizing the potential for enhancing the country’s global trade competitiveness. The meeting also touched on the importance of modernizing Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure to align with international standards and improve operational efficiency.
In addition to economic cooperation, the two sides discussed cultural relations and tourism promotion. They explored joint measures to highlight the historical and tourist sites of both countries, aiming to strengthen people-to-people ties and boost tourism.
Key outcomes of the meeting included an agreement to strengthen the maritime sector workforce through training and skill development programs, as well as a commitment to fast-track the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two nations.
Both parties also agreed to explore new bilateral trade and investment opportunities, underscoring their determination to further strengthen friendly relations.
Federal Minister Chaudhry assured the Danish Ambassador of the Pakistani government’s full support for Danish investments in the maritime sector, highlighting the sector’s potential to drive economic growth and sustainability. The meeting concluded with a shared vision for enhanced economic and cultural cooperation, paving the way for a stronger partnership between Pakistan and Denmark.
