Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has rejected the increase in fares for the Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) double-decker bus service and ordered the immediate withdrawal of the notification.
The proposed fare hike would have raised the ticket price for Lahore’s sightseeing bus service from Rs 200 to Rs 500.
Additionally, a significant increase from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 was planned for corporate sector bookings, educational institutions, and commercial activities.
Expressing strong disapproval, CM Maryam Nawaz directed TDCP officials to restore the original fares, emphasizing that the public should not be burdened with higher costs.
She reiterated her government's commitment to providing affordable travel and tourism opportunities, stating that the double-decker bus service was launched to enhance public entertainment and sightseeing experiences.
"We are providing the best travel and tourism facilities to the public at minimum charges and will continue to do so," she affirmed. Following her instructions, the old fare structure has been reinstated, ensuring that Lahore’s tourism services remain accessible to all.
