Two head warders of Adiala Jail have been dismissed from their positions over allegations of corruption and abuse of authority. The decision was issued by DIG Jail Rawalpindi Region, Abdul Rauf Rana.
According to officials, Head Warders Muhammad Arshad and Muhammad Safdar were found guilty of engaging in corrupt practices. Despite being given the opportunity, they failed to provide any evidence in their defense.
The action comes after multiple complaints were lodged by prisoners, prompting an official inquiry in January 2025. The Directorate of Monitoring uncovered evidence proving that both officers had been accepting bribes from inmates while overseeing kitchen and search duties inside the jail.
The investigation concluded that the warders had violated prison discipline and legal protocols, leading to their immediate dismissal. Authorities have vowed to maintain strict accountability measures to curb corruption within the prison system.
