British High Commissioner in Pakistan Jane Marriott on Thursday visited the residence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad, where the two leaders discussed the political and security situation in Pakistan and the wider region.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including the security situation in Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as developments involving Iran, Israel, the United States and the Gulf states.
The discussion also focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who heads Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), called on Britain to play a constructive role in addressing the evolving security challenges in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Jane Marriott said the United Kingdom remained engaged with regional countries and was playing its diplomatic role regarding the situation.
Engineer Zia-ur-Rehman and the British High Commission’s political counsellor were also present during the meeting.
