Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to replace Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori with senior PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The prime minister has forwarded a summary regarding appointment of Nehal Nashmi as Sindh Governor to President Asif Ali Zardari for approval, said a statement released by the PMO in Islamabad on Thursday.
According to the PMO, PM Shehbaz met Hashmi at PM House on Tuesday and decided to nominate him as the Governor of Sindh.
The news of the removal of incumbent Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, who belongs to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), has been circulating on social media for a few days.
In December, the MQM-P leadership had shrugged off rumours about the possible removal of Tessori.
Hashmi has served as a PML-N senator from March 2015 to March 2021, as per the Senate’s website.
MQM-P delegation to meet PM Shehbaz
Expressing dissatisfaction over the change of governor in Sindh, the MQM-P has decided to contact Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Sources told the 24News TV channel that a delegation of the party would soon meet the prime minister.
Kamran Tessori appeared to be not in the knowledge that he was being replaced, sources said.
On Wednesday, he had announced to gift three litres of petrol to every motorcyclist during three days of Eidul Fitre.
