Intense rain and windstorms wreaked havoc across multiple districts of Punjab, including Lahore, claiming two lives and leaving nine others injured in a series of weather-related accidents, according to Rescue 1122 officials.
The fatalities were reported from Gujranwala and Sargodha, where one person in each district lost their life due to lightning strikes. Sargodha also witnessed a lightning strike on a bamboo field, rescue officials added.
In Lahore, six separate incidents—including falling trees and collapsing signboards—led to injuries to three people. The city bore the brunt of strong winds that damaged infrastructure and disrupted normal life.
In Mianwali, two individuals were injured when a wall under construction collapsed due to persistent rain. Meanwhile, Dera Ghazi Khan reported a bizarre incident where a woman was injured after a solar panel came loose and fell during high winds.
A collision between a car and a motorcycle during the rain also resulted in one person being injured, while in Khushab, a lightning strike partially damaged a shop, injuring a woman inside, rescue teams confirmed.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious amid ongoing unstable weather patterns, as emergency services continue to monitor the situation.
