Hosts Bangladesh outclassed Pakistan by 104 runs in the first cricket Test played at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Set a target of 268 runs to win, the Pakistan batting line-up fell like dry leaves in the face of some disciplined bowling by the Bangladeshi bowlers on the final day of the Test.
The Pakistanis were all out for 163 runs.
Except for Fazal Abdullah, who scored 66 runs, no other Pakistani batter stayed longer at the crease.
Pakistan, who had won the toss and elected to field first, struggled throughout the run chase and failed to build any significant partnerships on the final day in Mirpur.
The tourists lost their first wicket at just three runs before Azaan Awais departed for 15.
Captain Shan Masood was dismissed for two, while Abdullah Fazal offered the only major resistance with a fighting 66.
Salman Agha scored 26, Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan contributed 15 each, while Hasan Ali and Nauman Ali added one and four runs respectively as Pakistan’s batting line-up collapsed under pressure.
Earlier, Bangladesh declared their second innings at 240 for nine on the fifth day, setting Pakistan a challenging target of 268 in 70 overs.
Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front with a fluent 87, while Mominul Haque added 56 runs to strengthen the hosts’ position.
For Pakistan, Hasan Ali and Nauman Ali claimed three wickets each, while Shaheen Shah Afridi took two and Mohammad Abbas picked up one wicket.
Nauman Ali also achieved a personal milestone during the match by completing 100 wickets in Test cricket.
Bangladesh had posted 413 runs in their first innings after being invited to bat, while Pakistan replied with 386 before suffering a dramatic batting collapse in the final innings to hand the hosts a memorable win.
