Classes would be held at schools only on 30 days during the first five months of the ongoing academic year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Last year, classes were held only on 124 days.
Today is the first day of the 10th class; however, children will be able to study only on seven days during the first five months.
On the other hand, Pak Aiwan-e-Taleem head Qazi Naeem Anjum has said that in order to complete the syllabus, the academic year should at least be of 190 days.
He has bemoaned that studies are not possible during the Eid holidays, Basant celebrations and during exams.
He has demanded that summer camps be allowed to be held at schools during the summer vacations; from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. “I appeal to the authorities to immediately issue a notification for holding summer camps.”
On Monday, governments of three provinces namely Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab announced summer vacations at educational institutions.
According to a notification issued by the government of Balochistan’s School Education Department, the vacations will start in the summer zone of the province on May 23, 2026 and would continue until July 31, 2026.
The Sindh government announced the schedule for summer vacations at all public and private schools across the province, with holidays set to begin from June 1 and continue until July 31.
The Punjab announced nearly three months of summer holidays for schools and colleges across the province due to rising temperatures, with educational institutions set to close from 22 May until 23 August.
